Consent, Pleasure and Autonomy

We work on consent, pleasure, and autonomy as key parts of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Our approach goes beyond risk and harm and focuses on dignity, agency, and informed choice.

In tribal contexts, where girls’ bodies and labour are often closely controlled and where early responsibilities, mobility restrictions, and limited access to information shape everyday life, conversations on consent and autonomy become even more critical. We engage adolescents and young people to reflect on relationships, power, communication, and bodily boundaries.

Through dialogues, creative methods, and community processes, young people learn to recognise consent, respect their own and others’ boundaries, and understand pleasure as part of bodily rights and well-being. This work challenges silence and stigma around sexuality and supports young people—especially girls—to claim autonomy over their bodies, relationships, and decisions

Our bodies are our own. Through My Body, My Decisions, we work to affirm young people’s right to make informed, safe, and joyful choices about their bodies, sexuality, and reproductive lives—free from fear, control, and stigma. The campaign centres dignity, consent, and bodily autonomy, especially for girls and young women whose choices are often questioned or restricted.

Working with girls’ and young women’s collectives, we create safe spaces to talk openly about menstruation, contraception, relationships, and abortion. Together, young people share experiences, challenge myths, and question the social and institutional control over their bodies. These processes build confidence, leadership, and collective strength to claim rights and demand access to information, services, and safe abortion care.

The campaign also engages boys and young men to reflect on gender norms, power, and responsibility, and to support cultures of consent and respect. By recognising the deep links between gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and mental well-being, My Body, My Decisions works towards greater equality, safety, and autonomy for all young people

Our Voices / Action highlights youth-led advocacy and community initiatives on consent, gender norms, and bodily autonomy. Young people design and lead small awareness actions, dialogues with families and communities, and campaigns that promote respectful relationships and challenge harmful practices.

Through these actions, youth collectives amplify their voices, build solidarity, and engage peers, parents, and local institutions in conversations on rights, equality, and consent.

In this section, we share reflections, stories, and learnings from young people, facilitators, and the organisation on consent, pleasure, relationships, and bodily autonomy. These blogs document lived experiences, emerging questions, and evolving practices from the field, contributing to wider learning and advocacy on SRHR
